Bits About Karen

I grew up in Brazil watching tons of cartoons and animated movies. I always had a passion for drawing, and since 11 years old I knew I wanted to become an animator. I studied animation at the Columbus College of Art & Design, in Columbus, Ohio, where I got a BFA in Media Studies, met my husband and became a Buckeye fan.

I have been living in the U.S. for over 13 years, and have experienced living in different states; from Ohio

to the NYC area, and from there to the San Francisco bay area in California, where I’m currently located.

While in California, I have earned a certificate in Advanced Studies in Character Animation from Animation Mentor.

I have over 9 years of experience, having worked with a range of companies, from small animation studios and

local TV stations to world renown advertising agencies and TV channels, such as Burson-Marsteller, CNBC, Oxygen, and Al Jazeera America.

My work does not fit in a box. Am I an animator? Yes. A visual artist? Yes. A designer? Yes. Motion graphics, advertising, television, websites, branding, social media, 3D experience? Yes. I have done and can do lots of things. The great advantage I see in my career path is that it never got boring. I evolved with the needs and trends of the market, and by doing that I had the chance to work in many fun projects, cool places, and with amazing people!
