Bits About Karen

I grew up in Brazil watching tons of cartoons and animated movies. I always had a passion for drawing, and since 11 years old I knew I wanted to become an animator. I studied animation at Columbus College of Art & Design, in Columbus, Ohio, where I got a BFA in Media Studies, met my husband and became a Buckeye fan.

I have been (legally) living in the U.S. for over 13 years, going from Ohio to the NYC area, and from there to the

San Francisco bay area in California, where I’m currently located. While in California, I have earned a certificate in Advanced Studies in Character Animation from Animation Mentor.

I have over 9 years of experience, having worked with a range of companies, from small animation studios and

local TV stations to world renown advertising agencies and TV channels, such as Burson-Marsteller, CNBC, Oxygen, and Al Jazeera America.

My work does not fit in a box. Am I an animator? Yes. A visual artist? Yes. A designer? Yes. Motion graphics, advertising, television, websites, branding, social media, 3D experience? Yes. I have done and can do lots of things. The great advantage I see in my career path is that it never got boring. I evolved with the needs and trends of the market, and by doing that I had the chance to work in many fun projects, cool places, and with amazing people!
